City of Leeton Announces Retirement


The City of Leeton announces the retirement of long-time public servant and current city treasurer, Jerry McAllister. McAllister has served as City Treasurer since 2014, but his involvement in the city spans decades, including time as city clerk in the 1970s-80s and as alderman in the 1990s. Recently, Treasurer McAllister oversaw the development of an investment program to ensure that city funds were invested appropriately and efficiently.  “Jerry has been an integral part of supporting Leeton throughout the years. His dedication to our community sets a great example for others. While he will retire from this official capacity, there is little doubt that he will continue to work for the good of the Leeton community, just as he has done for decades,” said Mayor Taylor Elwell.

Current City Clerk Terry Bond will also retire from her position and has been appointed Treasurer. In this capacity, she will work a few days per month, stepping away from day-to-day responsibilities at City Hall. Current Deputy City Clerk Alex Allison has been promoted to City Clerk, a full-time capacity responsible for daily operations and customer service. Terry Bond has served as City Clerk since 2015, and Allison was recently hired as Deputy City Clerk in Fall 2020. “The Board and I have complete faith in the abilities of Terry and Alex to continue to move our community forward in their new positions,” continued Mayor Elwell.  

With the retirement of Jerry McAllister effective December 31, 2020, both Terry Bond and Alex Allison will transition to their new roles effective January 1, 2021.
